Alex was born in former Yugoslavia (today Serbia). His training began early when as a child he helped his dad run a small juice factory. This experience taught him the importance of discipline, hard work and strong work ethics and provided him with the foundation skills to run a small business.
After high school Alex studied hotel management for two years. Upon completion of his studies he joined the renowned Celebrity cruise line celebrated for their exceptional dining experiences. While working and learning under the culinary supervision of famous French chef Michael Roux, he honed his own personal cooking style
In 1999 Alex came to the US to study culinary arts. He graduated from French Culinary Institute in 2003 and after working in several high end hotels and restaurants he decided to open his own restaurant. In 2007, Fresh Tortillas Grill opened in Alpha, NJ.
Fresh Tortillas has become the most popular Mexican eatery in the area and has continuously grown over the last 10 years. With the opening of his second restaurant, Blue Corn Grill, in Milford, NJ, Alex brings the same delicious cuisine with a modern Mexican flair in a warm and inviting atmosphere to diners in Warren and Hunterdon County.
